Alḥamdulillāh for the One who guides hearts, chooses people for the service of His Dīn, and blesses our time, relationships, and responsibilities with Barakah. Today, as I write reflecting on 25 years of Imāmah at the very same Masjid, Masjid Bilal, Islamic Society of Cumberland, Ottawa, Canada, where this journey began, I am deeply humbled.

Our noble Messenger ﷺ came with a universal message. His message was not restricted to a certain place, tribe, or nation. It was not meant for a limited period either. Rather, the message he was shouldered with was general and timeless. After the departure of the Prophet ﷺ from this world, the entire Muslim Ummah, in general, and ʿUlamā, in particular, were entrusted with the noble responsibility of preserving that eternal message of the Prophet ﷺ and passing it on to the subsequent generations.

Allāh created this universe with everything in it. He created good and evil, benefit and harm, and He made causes for each. There are visible, tangible causes that people can sense, like fire that burns or clothes that keep us warm. There are also unseen causes that are intangible but real, which people may not see or feel directly, yet they recognize their effects. All of this is out of Allāh’s perfect wisdom.

Etiquettes and Manners

There is no doubt that Allāh has completed our Dīn for us, completed His favours upon us, and sent us a Messenger ﷺ who was extremely merciful towards his people. That Messenger, Muḥammad ﷺ, guided us to everything good and warned us about everything evil. His guidance is applicable and binding upon mankind until the Day of Judgement (i.e. the end of this world).
